This suggested route provides a variant if you want to see more of the Lago di Como. There’s more climbing involved but the views are some of the best in the Lakes so it’s worth the effort. It turns off the more direct route at the Lago di Pusiano and then goes via the Lago di Segrino before climbing to the chapel of the Madonna del Ghisallo. The chapel is a place of pilgrimage for Italian cyclists and there’s a cycling museum next door (check the museum’s website for opening times). The classic climb, which forms part of the Giro di Lombardia, is in other direction from Bellagio. You could on the other hand turn right at the village of Asso and take the Valbrona and follow the very scenic lakeside road to Bellagio.
